About Us

Our Organisation

The Citizens Advice Service was established in 1939 as an emergency war service and has developed to become the UK’s largest independent advice service.

Locally, Citizens Advice Sunderland has been operating since 1976 and last year, we provided information and advice to over 9,000 people living and working in the Sunderland area.

Advice Services

Our services can be accessed via our daily drop in service and our telephone advice line.

Unfortunately, demand for our services is high and while we work hard to try and meet the demand, our resources are limited.  It’s important that you are aware that during busy periods, you may need to queue or keep trying.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide advice that helps people overcome their problems and come together to campaign on big issues when their voices need to be heard.
